Daiwa Saltist

The new Saltist series is a great entry level rod series for guys fishing in SoCal, offering the right lengths and line classes to go for the vast majority of species and fishing styles. These will be hard to beat when paired with a good budget reel like the Daiwa Saltist, Penn Fathom or Okuma Cavalla for the conventional models. I’d recommend the Daiwa BG MQ and Okuma Cedros series for the spinning given all of the extra features.

MONOCOQUE (MQ) MQ Body takes reel design to the next level. The MQ system does not require a body cover, instead using an engine plate to screw directly to the body. Eliminating the need for screws to hold a body cover in place. MQ body improves the strength of the reel, it also improves the water-resistance of the body and allows a larger diameter drive gear to be installed.
